The Investigation Division of the Coahoma County Sheriff's Department is responsible for investigating all felony crimes committed in Coahoma County.
Investigators work diligently to gather evidence, process crime scenes, and coordinate with the Mississippi Crime Lab to ensure evidence is properly analyzed and prepared for prosecution. They handle both felony cases and serious misdemeanor offenses.
A significant part of an investigator's role includes interviewing witnesses and suspects. Attention to detail and thorough documentation are critical in building strong cases.
Completed cases are presented to the District Attorney's Office for review and, when appropriate, submission to the Grand Jury and Circuit Court of Coahoma County.
The Coahoma County Sheriff's Department currently has three full-time investigators dedicated to serving our community.
